Colorful Rugs We Love

Inspiration

Last week we talked about using neutral rugs in your space. Neutrals are an easy and comfortable choice, but we know that a lot of you prefer a bolder, more colorful look!

Colorful rugs are ideal in homes with kids and pets, because they hide just about everything and stay looking new and fresh for much longer than a neutral one! We rounded up some of our favorite colorful options, including a few old favorites!

    1. Thanks for the feedback, Elizabeth. We’d love to do that too, but many of these rugs shown here are from big sites like Wayfair, Overstock and Amazon and the prices of the rugs change almost daily! We would hate to advertise a price that wasn’t accurate. :)

    1. Hi Cynthia,

I do prefer muddier colors over primary colors, but these are all definitely colorful in real life. :) You can see more examples of these rugs in my instagram feed and on other blog posts. The style images reflect the true color a bit better.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hey Rachel, All of these rugs are very punchy in person! Listing photos have a tendency to wash out color and drop saturation a bit, but they are for sure colorful IRL!

  1. I love your designs, but I wish you’d recommend and use items that were not so “cheap” – Especially items that take the abuse of life. None of these rugs would be able to take wear over time. It would be nice if you would recommend a larger range of options if someone is interested in investing in quality furnishings that will last vs. filling landfills with disposable design.

    1. Hi Emily!

I’ve had a few of these rugs in heavy rotation for a few years now and they still look great! I’m happy to recommend them for families or pet owners especially. Many people can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on a rug and our goal with this post, and much of our content, is to curate home goods that fall into the more affordable category, but still look nice and function well. We also use and talk about vintage rugs often for this reason as well. I think there are plenty of bloggers and designers sharing rugs of the more expensive variety whose content I hope you will rely on if you have a bigger budget.

      Thanks!

  2. Thank you so much for taking the time to put together this collection of colorful rugs! This is such a time saver for someone looking for something colorful in the home without having to search several websites!! Thanks for sharing:)

    1. I couldn’t agree more Maria. This was such a great idea. I really love a nice colorful rug. Thanks for the content Jenny.

      1. I’m not even looking for a new rug and I still loved looking through all the links. Thanks 1,000x for putting together such a thoughtful post.

  3. I love many of these choices and have had a few saved in various carts already. Thank you for bringing my attention to many more options that may be perfect in my space! I’ve had no. 18 in a few different rooms within my house and it’s been a beauty in every space! So versatile and color is a bit different in person. I’ve been looking for similar colors in other rugs and this list is a great resource! Bravo! Super excited to stumble upon another great blog post here. Thank you!

  4. I’ve loved #20 since seeing it on your blog…imagine my delight when I found it at tj maxx for 60$ in a 5×7!! Layered it in my kids room on a jute…love your taste

  5. Love you guys and love what you do. Obviously, you have a certain color palette that you love, which is fantastic. All but one have some sort of orange/ rust. I’d love options with more variety- like something in the blue or green tones (without orange or rust). ;) Just a thought. Love you guys!!

  6. Thanks so much for this! I have number 5 in my family room and I am contemplating number 18 for our master bedroom. You can see into both the bedroom and the family room from the front hallway in our small house. Do you think they’d work ok together? I struggle knowing how to coordinate from room to room!

  7. I love the pink in #2, and the bold tribal look of #17. Now I’m dreaming of where I could use them in my house!

  8. Total side note…..do you still love your chunky baseboards??? Found the EXACT casing and thinking I want to do this to my walls. I am absolutely obsessed with super thick chuncky baseboards.

  9. I love how you included all rugs of a reasonable price! I spent a lot of money on a vintage rug because I wanted that “look” but with dogs & a baby it hurt my heart (& bank account) anytime something would spill on it or happen to it! I plan on selling that one and buying one of these instead! Love it all!

  10. If you have already done a post on this, link me up, if you wouldn’t mind. In a post you suggest using the rug as your inspiration for the rest of the room’s decor. I have the opposite situation, starting with a bonus room that is already furnished and needing to find a rug. My question: how do you choose a patterned rug that gets along with everything else and doesn’t look ‘busy’? Same goes for a neutral rug with some design/pattern in it. You do this well. Your rooms are holistic.
